CTOUCH is on a mission to be the most sustainable touchscreen manufacturer in Europe. In this update, we inform you about the key initiatives we have taken in the past quarter that contribute to reaching our goals: lowering our CO2 footprint by 60% and increasing the circularity of our products by 25% in 2025.
In this edition:
💚 Smaller CTOUCH packaging with greater positive impact on the environment
💚 New Sustainability Passports for Riva and Canvas
💚 Why it is important to use products for as long as possible
💚 CTOUCH China's quest to use less steel and aluminium
💚 Just a CTOUCH? Where’s the carton box?
💚 Re-use is the key to a circular economy – we need your help!
💚 MVO Nederland has granted CTOUCH another IMVO-voucher
Smaller CTOUCH packaging with greater positive impact on the environment!
As part of our CO2 reduction plan, we have managed to further decrease the size of the packaging for our 86-inch touchscreens by 1.5 cm. Compared to last year, the box has become 4.5 cm smaller. The result? We use less packaging material and are able to transport more products per container. On a yearly basis, we save more than 100 tonnes of CO2 emission on the transport of the 86 inch models, a reduction of almost 30%.
New Sustainability Passports for Riva and Canvas
For each of our touchscreens, we conduct a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to quantify the CO2-impact of the entire life cycle. The outcome of the LCA forms the input for our Sustainability Passports. Every CTOUCH touchscreen comes with its own Passport.
We recently updated the Sustainability Passports of the Riva and Canvas touchscreens to the international standard. Instead of using assumptions from research literature, we use real data from our suppliers and from an internationally recognised database.

Why it is important to use products for as long as possible
Did you know that in the production of electronic devices, it takes half of all the energy needed to make the chips? The impact on the environment can be significantly reduced by using devices for a longer period of time and having them repaired when they break down.
That’s why we have extended the lifetime of our touchscreens from 7 to 10 years. How? With CTOUCH Heartbeat. We take back older models and repurpose them for another life, reducing electronic waste and doing our part in protecting the environment. This gives CTOUCH products the longest average lifetime in our industry!
Thanks to our partnership with Trees for All, we plant one tree for every CTOUCH screen that is activated with Heartbeat. A great win-win for our planet and the customer. 🌲
CTOUCH China’s quest to use less steel and aluminium
Together with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the support office in Shenzhen, CTOUCH is on a quest in China to find partners to lower the CO2 emissions and to increase the circularity.
For example, steel and aluminium, which can be recycled to a higher degree are being considered, as well as alternatives to these metals, such as (bio)plastics and various packaging materials.
Just a CTOUCH? Where’s the carton box?
CTOUCH is starting an initiative called 'Going paperless'. We do this together with one of our key resellers in the Netherlands. This means that no cardboard boxes will be used during the transport of the touchscreens from CTOUCH to our reseller's warehouse and to their customers.
With this initiative we want to prove that a future without cardboard is a realistic one.
Re-use is the key to a circular economy
That’s why we’re working with Unipartners on a Next Life business case for our touchscreens. Used screens that reach their first end-of-life are taken back by CTOUCH. We refurbish and upgrade them, and repurpose them in new markets. This gives our products the longest average lifetime in our industry. Just as important, we’re reducing the impact on the environment.

MVO Nederland has granted CTOUCH another IMVO-voucher!
IMVO vouchers are intended to support partners of MVO Nederland in their international sustainability ambitions. With this financial support we can do:
🍃 further research on supply chain transparency
🍃 develop a business case for a next life of our products
🍃 perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for new products to be introduced in the near future
These projects bring us another step closer to achieving our sustainability goals.
